lol i was trying to be like Dan Dibble and just lay on the gas while spinning all 4's! i did however make it over the rock pile but there was an awful metal to metal clanking noise after i got almost to the top of the biggest rock and then slid down (the rock is at least the size of my rig). i think when my back tires hit the bottom where another large rock lays the driveshaft just couldn't take it! at first i thought it was an axleshaft but thank goodness it was just a driveshaft.
it was fun as hell though and limped home using my twinsticked np205 and hydro assist on the front .
That's definatley a 2 piece rear shaft... I have that half of one sitting in my garage... out of my F250 that used to be an ex. cab... LOL
I haven't twisted up a shaft like that yet, but, I have broken the cross clean off of U-joints... LOL
Awesome! I just wish I would have saved mine to hang on the wall. I figure if I saved all the junk I broke over the years I wouldn't have any room to hang my tools though Make sure you have Jess build you one with the thicker wall than his standard. He did that for me and I haven't had any problems.
soooo...........did you bend it on the rock, or just the sheer power of the rig just made a curly fry out of it?
i like the latter
well, i'll put it this way.... i had more than enough room to clear everything underneath including my driveshaft. i think the sheer weight of my rig and the speed my tires were going the shaft couldn't handle anymore! i am 99% sure i didn't hit anything.
yes its a 2 piece shaft and I have to say i love it.... i can keep a fairly decent breakover angle. i will order a stronger 2 piece shaft from jess and yes Pro, i will order the thicker one.
lol yea, i had a little yellow spray paint left and thought i would spray it some design so when it was spinning it looked cool!
yea the driveshaft and steering parts are easy to hang on the wall.... i am still trying to figure out how i am gonna hang my t-case
Actually we used to paint a line down all the driveshafts and axle shafts. it's actually a good idea then you can tell if they are starting to twist, and get them replaced before they snap,a nd take something else out.
Wow! I never would have thought of this but that's a great idea. So I guess painting mine like a candy cane is out?
Fishy, post up or shoot me a PM when you get a price on that shaft. I checked quite a while ago and the 2 piecer's were some big bucks but I'll be needing one soon here and we have a very similar setup with our trucks and driveshafts.
