I doubt it is the accel pump, because that would be only as i apply throttle. The truck idles perfect right at about 700rpm, I'll drop it in drive and as i slowly apply throttle, it just falls on its face and misses, and will miss untill throttle position becomes more than 1/3 trottle. After 1/3 throttle, it just slamms you in your seat and takes off. But if you are not in the throtttle, there is just no power. Also, when the engine is cold, this problem is much worse. The engine will die if i try to apply throttle when it is cold. When it worms up, it will not die, just miss. My tail pipe is clean clean, indicating lean. How do i adjust for off idle mixture? The carb does have power valve protection. Also, from my carb tuning expirence on bikes, i understand that when you tune you should start at full throttle, and work you way down, adjusting the idle last. Does this apply to here as well?

On these carbs, the fuel passes thru the main jets and is fed to the idle, intermiate and high speed circuits as needed. This way the idle and mixture adjustments are still a part of the total fuel allowed to pass thru the main jets at WOT. As long as the main jet is a larger orfice than the idle and intermiate circuits the they don't matter as at WOT, any fuel they don't bleed into the system still goes thur the high speeds.

alright, im learning a little here, so sence all fuel passes threw the main jet, and i am lean throughout the entire range, I will start off raising my primarys from 65 to 70, does that sound like a proper jump in size? Im going to repost this in the carb section, i have more tuning questions.

PS, I punched it real good yesterday off the line and just burned the hell out of the tires holding full throttle, then poped her in 2nd and the tires spun even faster, then i let off, looked in my mirrors and saw nothing but white.Burned the tires for a good 100ft. Funny thing is, i had 2 9" rear ends, my 3 ton floor jack, my motorcycle ATV jack, and i whole bunch of other junk in the bed, cant even tell the stuff is there, truck drives effortlessly once i get past that dead spot off idle. VERY VERY fun engine! I am very suprised with how the motor revs. I was hitting 6k like nothing, and it sounds really good, cam is a little Crower 270. I can tell i might be needing a rev limter.

You need to remember when you go to WOT there is the power valve opening to enrichen the system also. Once you knock the tires loose the is very little load on the engine, compared to when you are going over a mountain pass with a 5,000 lbs trailer. Takes a lot more fuel to do the pass and trailer thing than kick tires loose. I would have thought the carb should have had 68s or 70s in it to start with. But the bigger jets will not enrichen you idle or midrange. The idle is contolled my the mixture screws and the mid-range is control by air bleed(non adjustable, well you can drill them but if you go to far you are screwed).
