#1 Cylinder Location?

Where is the #1 cylinder located on a 300-6? My friend's borrowed truck was returned to him in terrrible shape and he has to replace all of the ign/wiring/etc. He has the marks on the cap but wasn't sure if the #1 cylinder was at the front of the engine or at the firewall? I seem to remember it at the front but it's been so long since I had an L6 I'm afraid to give him the wrong info.

front of the engine they go in order 1 2 3 4 5 6 and on a v 8 they go like this

The number cylinder is always the one most toward the front. On a V8 one head always sticks out more than the other this is always #1.
