My 91 E150 has started having a problem with the engine stalling on start up if the blower motor is energised. The van would not start or run with blower switch in any position other than off. If you start the van with the blower switch off then try to turn the fan on the engine stalls immediatly. There are no computer code faults. When I unplugged the blower motor there were no problems at all with it starting or running. The plug connection for the blower was bad (appeared to have had too much current run through it) so I replaced the connection. Now if you wait 5 minutes for the engine to warm up the blower does not effect it. The battery voltage at the posts reads 14.8 volts with the engine running. Turning on the headlights does not effect the engine. I'd like to check the ground connection for the blower but I do not know where that would be. The Haynes manual shows a ground connection as number G-202 without a location shown.
Any suggestions would be appreciated,
Thanks newbie Lon
My '92 ford electrical manual shows G202 under the dash, on the passenger side, actually looks like it is on the side panel next to the door. Looks like a spade connector that goes onto a screw. Sort of comes out of the wiring bundle by itself, as per the drawing.
However this is the '92, and it shows another ground, g201 under the dash, just to the right of the steering column, for the blower switch. There is also a relay shown in the engine compartment fuse panel, as well as a 60 amp fuse in the engine compartment panel.
Thanks for the info, tree. There are two ground wires attached on the left hand side of the column ( 91 must be slightly different) but they check out fine. As badly as wire connector was melted you would think that the fuse would have blown. The schematic that I have shows a 35 amp fuse #6 in the fuse panel. I'm going to try checking the amp draw that the fan has to see if that is a problem
but will have to compare it to the other 91 van that I have aquired.
