Hi all
Quick question, My 2006 explorer has wound up with the heater blower running all the time. When you toggle the blower switch up and down you can see the light bar on the switch move the bars from low to high but has no effect on the blower speed. You can not get it to shut down even by turning off the heater or ac controls??
Any one run into this before?
Thanks
Larry
Does your Explorer have the electronic automatic temp controls? It sounds like it does, and if so, the blower motor issues could very likely be due to a faulty solid state blower motor speed controller. With the electronic controls it uses a transistor speed controller versus the old-school resistor and the transistor might be shorted.
If you set the function selector switch to the off position the fan should stop if not remove fuse F2.30 5A in the central junction box. If it continues to run you have a bad Blower Motor Relay in the BJB, if it stops you may have a bad Function Selector Switch. it is not a great problem to remove the panel the switch is mounted on or to change it after getting to it. Good luck!
