Does anyone have pictures or links to any customized F150's in the early/mid 80's body style? I am trying to restore and customize a 82 F150 extended cab. There are NEVER any good pics of any Fords around these years - only Chevy's. Does no one take an interest in this body style? I'm thinking of painting mine monocromatic silver, putting a step-side bed, lowering, tube grill, 10" wheels, roll pan in the back with integrated tail lamps, shaved door handles, etc. Any suggestion, comments, ideas are appreciated.
I have customized my F-150. I have replaced the I6 with a 400, added a Dana 70 rear, a leaf sprung solid up front, and custom bumpers, head-ache rack, and body work. A big-block, 36" Swampers, and a flat bed are in the VERY near future.
IT's not quite what you are wanting to build, but it works for me.

I have an 82 f100 flareside painted custom purple metallic. Removed the chains in the back and put inside stainless latches from Bruce Horkey. Also, replaced the blah taillamps w/ 56 f100 taillights and stainless rear bumper. Replaced wood floor with full sheet of diamondplate and shot the bed sides w/ sprayin liner. Just replaced 300 w/ a 351w, aod, and ripped off cat and all emmission controls and put true dual exhaust along with performer manifold and carb. Toyota power buckets inside and a custom center console. Next I need some advice on lowering.
Where I live, this kid fixed up an 82 stepside real nice. he spent $2000 on custom paint, the motor and intereior and ran out of money. well he sold it to some old man. now i see this truck running around town, big dual exhaust, nice sliver and blue paint, with ugly stock wheels and a hay fork . i wish i could have bough it.
I have an 84 F150 XLT Regular cab. It has a 351W with an Edelbrock intake and Carbuerator, Hedman Headers, RV cam, dual exhaust, and coming soon a K&N airfilter. It has a chrome rear bumper, box cap, windshield wipers, Tool box, and exhaust tips, all of this gives it its nickname Chrome to the Nutz. It has been painted in 1996 GMC blue (not my choice but it looks good), and I am looking into an airbag suspension for lowering and raisng it. I have Crappy aluminum rims the rust if they see wet so I park the truck for the winter and drive my 86 F150 which I am looking at costomizing. I am interested in low pro tires with 17 inch rims but the bank account doesn't agree with me right now. If you would like to see pics email me at fordkicksass69(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
Here is what I am about to do. I have an 86 F350XLT Crew Cab Single rear wheel, 6.9 liter automatic. I bought a smashed 95 F350 CC/DRW with a powerstroke and a ZF. I am going to take and put the entire drive train into the 86. Then I am going to gut the 86's interior and replace it with the complete interior from the 95. I will wind up with an 86 F350 CC/Dually with the Powerstroke and a 5 speed, and fancier interior. By the time I am done with this truck I will have more in it than I would ever be able to get out of it again but who cares I will drive it until it or me is dead. lol. Good luck with your truck. Let your imagination run.
Is your truck 4x4 or 2x4, cause dropped fords from 70's-96ish actually look pretty nasty. I would insist, if it is 4x4 and even 4x2, to jack that b-atch up 6-10 inches, it is much more imposing to see a truck rollin on 36-42's, unless u wanted to race your truck, then dropping it works but get some 29-31 inch tires but get them thin with 20+" rims and that would look pretty tight. Also i would see, if it has it, of removing that bar in the extended cab side window, ughh!
