traction control springs
I was going to get traction control springs from jcwhitney to stop the wheel hop on my 79 f 150 4x4. Well i went and measured my springs and they are 3 inches wide and have about 20 inches between the front spring mount and and the clamp that holds the spring to the axle. Jcwhitney has 2 different sizes. One that is for springs 2-21/2 wide and atleast 20 inches between axle and front spring mount and 3 inch wide and atleast 22 inches between axle and front spring mount. Will these even work on my pickup? The picture shows a pickup with the axle above the springs, not below like on my pickup. I am looking for a fairly cheap way to eliminate wheel hop on my pickup. It has no lift blocks or anything it is stock height and i just put on new shocks less than half a year ago and they did not help it any. Any help is appreciated.

Cut and paste into youraddress window. I don't see the Ford listing but I used them with good results on my 77 1/2 ton. As Eric said make sure everything else is in good shape.

I couldnt get the link to work but i am assuming that it is what they call their off road traction bar kit correct? Do you remember the part number you have or what the application said it would fit? They have none for any ford. I was also planning on new poly bushings for the leaf springs also.

I'll try the link again. Yes they are calling them off road tracktion. Don't know why they don't list Ford. Originally called SureTrak bars. Try some off road parts places on the web.

Well i think my only option is the superlift super trac traction bars. They are 2 different kits i guess you could say. One is the mounting stuff and the other is the bar. its going to end up being over 200 but i dont think it will be too much over. Anyone know the best (cheapest) place to get them from? Or anyone else have any other options that are cheaper?

ok i have found two different alternatives and need your guys input. They are both made by superlift but they look completely different. The one i just found looks better and sounds better than the other one. http://www.rockymountainsusp.com/tractionbars.htm superlift super-trac traction bar part # 100 and #101 (brackets and rods seperate) cost about 230. http://broncograveyard.com/products/cat/18/120/23610 superlift traction bar kit Part # 23610 cost is 190. I am leaning towards the superlift traction bar kit (2nd link) it sounds better and is also cheaper. Always a bonus

Josh, if you buy these and have any questions, send me a PM and I will try to help you.
Also wire brush your u-bolts and spray some good penatrant on them like arokroil (spelling may be off without going out to the garage and looking) it can be bought at NAPA, and is the best I have ever used, at home or at work (large coal burning power plant). Let it soak for a while.
Good luck.

ya i figured that i would start using a something to help break the bolts loose easier. I have been using the same stuff for awhile and found it to be the best one i have used. That aint saying a whole lot cuz i have only been around for 19 yrs but so far it has done its job well. Cant remember the name but it is good stuff. Another thing i may do is give the traction bars a coat of some black paint. I dont really like that red.
