Rear end Identification
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of rearend i might have.
the tag says wbg -f 3.89 2L8 301 ?????????????????????????

Look
On your warranty tag it is rivited to the drivers door, and then you could do a
search on rearends there are some very good info here. Does the rearend have
a bolt on cover, or does the gears load from the front of the housing ( 9INCH)
p.s some one else may ring in with the info!

You should be able to find a rear end assy with better gearing for your truck. Just have to watch for the spline count. They're either 28 or 31 splines.

I'm no expert on ID'ing the axle tags, but I don't think your tag will work. I can tell you it is more of a casting/part number though.
