hi all
well i am stumped only had the truck for 6 months
still learning about the computer controled fuel injected
stuff and what u can work on and what u have to take to
the shop.
need to have ready for the summer so i can tow my speed boat
(easer to work on then the truck)
so i am taking care of things as i can working on a buget
well its pinging.
this is what i have done
plugs gaped at 54
bosh wires
cap
rotor
timing set at 10 BTDC yes i pulled the plug to disable the advence
injector service but i was on happy with the job nothing
was hooked up to the fuel rail used a iv bag hooked it up
to the power brake vac line and put a bottle of cleaner
in the fuel tank.
it pings real bad on a hill close to the house but only
when it gets to 2800 rps or higher if i hit the od butten
it stops.
but of corse i cant pull the hill.
this 1 is ticking me off
dont now ware to go next
fuel presser?
injectors?
cencers? (have on codes) is there a nox cencer?
the temp on the truck at the time was running cool but that is gona be next stat and coolent.
i am running reg gas and the truck isent pinging on flat ground
or on lesser inclines.

Since its a Mass Air setup , check the MAF Wires for any debris that may be built up on them . If you do find they have dirt etc built up on them use some electronic parts spray cleaner to clean them .
Try cleaning the fuel injection not just with an add a can but take the throttle plates out and clean them really good clean everything you can use a small brush and spray can of carb cleaner should make a difference it works on the mustangs and they are prone to pinging. John

i will clean the contacts on the MAF what about the cencer it self?
ware are the plates at i asume that thery are at the intake
and is it a pain in the b&^ ?
i all so found a place that has a motor vac
when i have the mulla.

Remove the Maf Sensor from the intake plumbing , you should find 2 thin wires in the center of the sensor , use the electrical contact spray to clean them if they are dirty .
well i talked t a couple of 20 year in the bizz techs
to day and they told me to ck the EGR VALVE AND A CRACK ON EXOST
MANAFOLD ARE CRACKS PRETTY COMMIN ON 5.0. based on what i told them a rolling pinging at about 2800 rpms has eaney body herd of this?
and what in the hell am i looking for on the egr?

I had the passenger side Exhaust Manifold crack to pieces on a 5.8 liter. You could definatly hear that. Fixed that with a good quality set of headers.
