rust removal by electrolisisi?

I know I read on here some where about a method to use electrolisis to remove rust but I can't seem to find it now. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Anyone used this method to do large pieces (like doors)? Thanks

This works great! I used baking soda instead of laundry soda and it worked fine. A couple of tips, use the biggest possible electrode you can find. I used steel rebar from home-depot and switched new rods every week. Clean the rods at least 2 twice a week. Bar stock would work real good and you can get that at HD now too. Degrease before putting in. I used a GFI outlet for saftey reasons.

I have seen people do large parts. It takes multiple battery chargers along with a huge amount of water, but once setup would be a easy system to use. Perfectly safe for delicate stuff too. Make sure you primer after taking anything out, it rusts real quick. have fun! -4speed

It is only truly effective when the surface being cleaned can be "seen" by the electrodes. For this reason it does nothing for derusting deep down in block water passages. For blocks and heads I use the slower but very effective molasses treatment.
