Has ANYONE rebuilt a HD-MX Transmission (AKA Medium case cruso)? My 67 F-250 trans needs a rebuild but i have not found one thing on someone rebuilding one. One of you must know something, no?
A friend of mine with a 67 had the box rebuilt, it cost him $1,300. A C-6 would be a better box, cheaper to rebuild and is alot more common. Unless this is a "must be original" truck the C-6 is the way to go.

Carl....=o&o>....
Well, i plan on rebuilding it myself. Kits seem to be about $130 or so. By the time i find a c-6 pull all the parts needed, lug it all home, rebuild it if needed, try to get all the linkages to work etc etc. it will be not worth it IMO. I have done "swaps" with other things before and murphys law always come into play. At least with the orginal trans i KNOW it will fit back in.
Murphys my best friend, gets me in trouble when the chips are down. Run what you have for now but locate a C-6 for the future, they bolt right in, stronger and parts are alot more available. Happy rebuilding.

Bolt right in? No linkage problems? Drive shaft the same length? What about MPG? I hear the C6 robs a lot of power.
Both boxes are the same if hp loss and mpg are a concern. A C-6 will have the same power loss as a Turbo 400, not like the C-6 eats 95 hp. Call the C-6 an improved version of your MX box. Far as the the shift linkage and driveshaft, been told by others they fit the C-6. This would bring up another thread question to be answered. If you do any motor power upgrades the C-6 would be more durable.
