Sometimes my 94f150 4x4 302 will die when going in reverse, well it will if i dont jimmy foot it, and only somtimes when turning. But this past week I have had to jimmy foot it while in reverse. I had another tranny put in (2nd one in 6months) and it just started sense I got it back. I dont want to take it back to the shop because they will charge alot. Could it possibly just be the throttle cable? and needing higher rpms. Or a new battery?
Check to make sure everything is tight inside the distributor. I don't know if it applies to later models, but I have seen distributors with broken springs or missing screws that would lose contact because of the force of turning, causing the engine to die. It seems possible that reverse could cause the same kind of force. This may not be your problem, but it might be worth looking into.
i can almost garantee that it is your idle air control(iac) i had the exact same problem, replaced it and boom not a single issue anymore. it is located on the right hand side of your throttle body. 2 bolts hold it on. just pick a new one up slap it on , less than 5 minutes and that should take care of it. they re kinda pricey for what they are, mine was 50 some bucks hope that fixes it because that sounds like the same issue i had
I have the same problem in reverse, it idles way down and then if I give it gas it is ok. Sometimes if I tap the accelerator when in idle, the idle will drop way down and come back quickly. Sound like the same problem? I have found an idle air control motor and an idle air control valve listed as parts for the idle control parts. Which is it or are they both the same? Some calrification would help.
My 95 F-250 460 V8 has an idle problem only when the A/C is turned on. It jumps up fairly high when the compressor is turning. It started doing this one month ago. I already cleaned the IAC motor and did not change. I found a TSB saying that there is an updated IAC. Is this right? What else should I look for. Its hard for the wife to park just as it is without the idle jumping up. Any help would be good.
