Ok so it wasnt the head or intake gaskets I dont think (Intake gasket may have been damaged when I removed it) so im gonna take your advice and pput her back together and pressure test it.
FBP brought up another good point check to see if the heads are warped using a good precision straight edge, or have them checked at a good machine shop. Warped heads are hard to find with the naked eye.
I have also thought of going with a 5.0 EFI in my 65. Maybe some day when the old 352 gives out. Also thought about putting the sheet metal on a TownCar chasis. Anyone ever tried that combo?
I took everything apart and out and could never find the cause. Im starting to think my buddy didnt really see a spark when we were testing it. Anyway thought you guys would be interested in the progress. Im still looking for a donor but am considering keeping the FE. While Ive been taking it apart Ive also been detailing it with new paint and a few new hoses and such. I will say this the engine has been rebuilt fairly recently (the guy I bought it from rebuilt the engine to use at his farm but then went another directio). So now Im finishing detailing her and am buying Fel-Pro gasket set online and also am leaning towards a electronic ignition. Any suggestions on the electronic ignition? Ill keep the updates as they happen, thanks again for the guidance.
FordBoypete; I had to chime in on your statements like "FE powertrains to be problematic", C-6, 9" or Dana 60 weak? "Timing cover can leak fro corrosion / damage. Espically if water, not coolant had been run in engine". I have never seen a FE that had water contact with the timing cover unless you had water in the oil. I don't recall if it's you or another member that went to a 460, seen many more 460's fail than a "50 year old design FE" Nuff said.
