I have 47,000 on an 2003. It costs 84.00 every 5000 miles for oil changes, and I had $480 out of pocket for right side ball joints. I run mostly highway and 100-200 miles of gravel weekly with farm work. I will probably need tires at 55,000 so figure another $600 for overall maintenance. That fugures to 4 cents a mile for the first 50,000.
I DONT KNOW ABOUT ANYONE ELSE BUT I TOW A LOT AND COULD NOT GET EVEN 25 K OUT OF A SET OF TIRES, and you should have had many other service costs at 50 k trans ,diffs, airfilter,3fuel filter sets, and brakes. at least that is what the book calls for.
My dad can't believe I have 47,000 miles on my tires either. I did forget the Tranny service at 30,000 add $250 to the total and another cent a mile. As for air and fuel filters, I have checked the air filter, and it is clean. I have not had any problems with the truck outside of the injectors and front crank seal when it was new. I use tow/haul to slow down when empty and save my brakes.
I have 30,000km on a 2005 6.0L. I have a huge cap on the back (6' high inside) and weigh in at 10,000LB. I send in an oil sample to be analyzed every 10,000km And they tell me that the oil is just about finished at that milage. I use Chevron Delo 400. The first sample was high in all areas because of break-in period, the second was high in fuel in the oil caused by to much idling (cold winter here in Cunuc land) Third was alittle less fuel in oil but higher salt content..........Imagine that salt in the oil...........thanks for melting our snow and wrecking our engines. They tell me that the amount of salt was normal for our climate and not to worry about it. I,ve had no trouble with it and only been back to the dealer once for a faulty vacuum pump. I also have been using a diablo tuned to 65hp for the past 15,000km. What I suggest to save cost of oil filters and fuel filters is have your oil tested and judge your oil changes according to your drive style. If you use fuel from a station that maintains there filters and sells alot of fuel (truck stop as apposed Gas station) you can get 20,000km out of fuel filters. Air filters are a no brainer......the truck tells you when to change it. I get between 14-16 mpg Canadian. 12-14 US. Should get better now that the warmer weather is here. The dealer sayed to change the oil every 5 to 8,000 km just to be sure, but with 14 liters and a $50.00 oil filter and a $75.00 fuel filter, you need to be smart about when to change it.
60,000 miles on the 04 PSD 6.0 4x4 ... 5,000 miles/week ...
78.00 on oil changes every 5,000 miles
I ran my fuel filters to 30,000 (always truck stop fuel with Howes additive)
front tires lasted 40,000 miles ...chords started coming apart and sidewalls were starting to crack ....(cheap Generals started showing bad wear at 10,000 miles ...my new Firestones look like new after 20,000 miles )
still running original rear duals
600.00 on a blown heater core
had a complete tranny flush at 50,000 milesto check for any signs of metal ...looked and smelled like new !
