I'm in the process of ordering a new 2005 F250 Lariat CC LWB 4x4 auto and was wondering if the problems people are having with the torqshift transmission (i.e. SOME 2005 F-SUPER DUTY VEHICLES WITH A TORQSHIFT TRANSMISSION MAY EXHIBIT REVERSE SHUDDER, LOSS OF REVERSE AND TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKAGE) will be a non issue for me since my build date will most likely be 03/05 or 04/05? The dealership I'm ordering from said they couldn't tell me becuase they haven't delt with any superduties that had the problem.

 

This does not surprise me, it is not widespread

 

I thought I read the last date for the affected TS is 1/15/05. I've done a couple of searches looking for that thread, but have not found it, yet.

My TS was built 1/31/05 so I think it's OK.

 

Being that this is an ENTHUSIAST site I'll try and sound somewhat positive..
This is my 'second' F250 6.0/Torqueshift.. My 03 had the Roll-away clunk AND the 2-3 upshift clunk that some here have.. Ford hasn't released a Broadcast Message in regards to the 2-3 upshift clunk as being a normal condition like the roll-away concern.. NEITHER of them had any noises when new.. Traded off the 03 for a 'better'? build 05, and have been pretty disapointed.. The trans needed a rebuild at 2K, as was the case with the rear diff., and, it's at Ford right now being pulled again for leaks, and another clunk repair fix attempt.. When it clunks its easily heard/felt (by the passengers as well) and is a major disapointment for a 40K+ truck.. If ordering again.. I go the six speed.. NO MORE 5R110's for me until they get/build a better unit.. Most here haven't had any issues, so this is jusy my .02 worth.. But something to concider if going automatic.. Do a search on 'clunks' and read some of the posts.. More than just me/mine.. BOTH my trucks have had lousy sound'n transmissions, and I know of three other failures of co-workers and freinds.. ALL of them have been reasonably low mileage as well.. This trans is supposed to be Ford 'Goliath' unit.. I'm think'n not.. Hate to be a 'bed wetter' but this is my reality with these trannys.. And with our new upcoming fleet trucks, NONE of them will get the 5R110.. So much for being 'upbeat'!!

Other than the Trans... Really LOVE the truck...

I have an 05 F250 with the Torqueshift trans and I only had one problem and that was the Fluid temp sensor. Took about an hour to have replaced under warranty. Other than that the truck has been wonderful and hasn't had any problems and I drive it about 200 miles daily.

 

I was just at the Dealership over the weekend looking at ordering a truck. The chances of getting the truck you want are getting pretty grim... Some might be waiting till the 06`s come out. The last date the transmissions were effected was 1/15/05 you were right... But they are only recalling the snowplow package trucks. Kinda like... "lets hope we can weasel out of some of these and they will last till the 3yr 36k runs out".. Who knows.. I might be wrong... But my new 05` is supposed to be in tomorrow. They had to go out of state to get what I wanted. Build date 12/15/05.... I have my fingers crossed...

 

I just picked up my CC King Ranch, 4x4, LWB, Auto on Saturday!! Have only a few hundred miles on it now, but this truck is awesome!! No problems whatsoever!!

 

yall might think im crazy that i kno all dis b/c im 14 and im a girl.. but they stoped makin the 2005 f250's in february
so u r going to get a 1/05 or 2/05 the one my dad has now is a 2/05 make and i have no problems with anything yet ive heard bad things about the injectors...

 

i might be crazy but i think ur build date is 12/15/04 not 12/15/05
