Tuner HELP!

excuse my ignorance on this subject, i'm new to this. i have done extensive research on microtuners and so far it looks like the two best are diablo predator and superchips (sct) xcalibrator. i have read over 100 threads involving this subject and it seems, they are similar; so i have a few questions i hope members will help me answer. which one was made first? i'm aware that superchips is comming out with xcalibrator2, is this because diablo is that much ahead (better)? Or, is diablo also comming out with predator 2? xcalibrator claims they have better gains, but i don't know if that is true. i have read threads on f150online that raves about xcalibrator tuned by mike, then again i have read threads on fordf150 that everyone seems to rave about the diablo tuned by motorheaven. it looks like each tuner is equally as good as far as performance gains; it seems to me that it just depends on who tunes the tuner. is this true? or can most tuners tune it about the same?

please give me some opinions on these two tuners. which did you get and why

FIRST…..Welcome to Ford Truck Enthusiasts! Please read the Guidelines, it will help you to navigate through and understand this site.

Superchips have been building tuners for quiet some time now.
The tuning business is always advancing, doing research to come out with something new....all companies are doing this not just Diablo or SC.
IMO what ever you decide, call MotorHaven they are one of our sponsors, support those who support you.
Hope this helps, with your fact finding

We are happy you have chosen the best source for Fords!

thanks tim, i do plan on sponsering out sponsers especailly if i get the diablo. i have been told that mike ****** is superior to most tuners and does an excellent job on xcalibrator. in my opinon i didn't think it really matters that much which one i get, or who tunes it, i figured they come out of the factory tuned for each truck. i have done searches but i want to find out people's most recent responses, especailly those who have had them installed for a while. can anyone chim in and clear things up for me a little to aid in my decision.
thanks

I like my Predator not only for the adjustability, but that it can be updated online without having to send it back to have it done. Motorhaven is where I got mine. They have great prices and killer customer service.

You know... everyone says their tuner is superior to everyone else. The tuning market is a big peeing contest. What counts is if you're happy with the results.

I can handle a SCT Xcalibrator with custom tuning for your application, along with software so you can tweak it if you want. It will give excellant power. Or, if you want, the Predator will do it all in one package. If you have a customized vehicle the Xcalibrator is a very good option. The Predator is a very good choice for stock or mild-custom.... it can also handle custom tunes we provide but its not as flexible in its custom tune support as the Xcalibrator. The Predator's power is excellant as well.

With the Predator you can make a ton of changes to the tunes it has in it for stock/mild customs. With a custom tune we provide loaded you can't make changes to the custom tune. The Xcalibrator will allow end-user changes to a custom tune.

The Predator also has a code reader a live data streaming/logging.

Both are excellant choices.

thanks, i know predator can be updated online, but does it not cost an additional 120 dollars for the tunes? i found on their website that 120 charge is for the custom tunes. so in this case the tuner will cost somewhere between 350 + 120 for tunes. please clear this up a little. i'm wanting to add a tuner to a completely stock truck that i may add exhaust and cai later, but for now it's stock.

from what i understand, i have to pay 350 for the tuner, then pay another one time fee of 120 for custom tunes which i can update online.

thanks, please clear this up for me

$120 is for custom tunes on the chips, not the Predators. (And www.MotorHaven.com charges significantly less for custom on chips).

Oh.... also... exhausts and cold-air intakes don't require custom programming and you generally won't benefit from programming for them unless there is something wrong with the placement of the MAF sensor (and its giving a bad reading).

thanks ken,
do you work for motohaven? so basically i pay 399 maybe less (i heard that if i'm a member, i get discount) and it comes with 2 or 3 tunes. the programs that people download from daiblosport webiste, are those programs newer tunes? how hard is it excatly to use, i never really used one before, but do i need to do any adjustment myself? i was hoping it comes from motorhaven already tuned. also, if i desire a different tune do i simply contact diablo and they send me a new tune through email which i can upload on the predator?
thanks again
