I'm in the market for an OBDII diagnostic tool, and for the price (especially since it happens to have a 100 horse program) the Predator is definately in the running.
My questions are: Will the Prdator scan all OBDII vehicles, or just the Ford OBDII, or just my truck (see sig.)
"Full text OBD-II Diagnostics + diesel specific diagnostics
Real-time sensor input data monitoring (fuel, MAP, coolant temp, RPM, live diagnostic codes, etc.). Over 100 parameters can be monitored in real time."
I am interested in three of those "over 100" parameters. 1. the duty cycle of the injection pressure regulator. 2. High pressure oil pressure, and 3. Fuel injection pulse width.
If it can capture those three parameters from my truck, and read the rest of my OBDII Fords (00 Windstar, 01 Taurus, and 97 Navigator) then I'll be sold and will purchase one based on reply's to this thread.
Yes, it will test any OBD-II system. I used my F-Series Predator to scan a Nissan and it worked fine. It will just only tune one vehicle at a time. Definately worth the money.
Cookie I would also try and find out if the Predator can also adjust injector pulse width, duty cycle, and injection timing also, so you can fine tune it to your heart's content. That would make it a killer app. If it would do all that I wouldn't bother with chip when it's my turn to do it.
I don't know if it's truely bi-directional or not, but for me it does not need to be....I just need to be able to monitor so I can better direct my chip guy on the improvements I want, and it's absolutely neccessary that it can read all my vehicles.
It's looking more promising all the time, check out my same subject thread in 7.3
No, the Predator will not allow you to adjust pulse width, duty cycle and injection timing. The only thing you can modify on the supplied tunes is shift pressure.

Bummer. I would like to find a way to retard the timing on my rig. It pings like a gasser with the timing way too advanced while on the freeway. I know it's just a diesel going about it's work, but I know it could use a little adjustment.
