LAST EDITED ON 15-Mar-01 AT 10:54 PM (EST)[p]My 88 F-150's radiator leaks like it has it hole in it, mostly because it does. The cranky radiator shop owner that i spoke to told me that i had a plastic radiator and swore up and down that he couldn't rebuild it. So i need to get a new one, where's the best place to get one? I'd like a decent one, but nothing special. what price range am i looking at? can it be done in my garage or would i be better of getting the cranky radiator guy to do it?
You can get one from www.radiator.com It's a definate DIY job. Here are the steps to remove and replace the radiator (make sure the truck is cool first).
Drain all coolant from the radiator and disconnect the upper/lower radiator hoses from the radiator.
Unscrew the auto tranny cooling lines from the driver's side of the radiator.
Remove top two bolts from the radiator shroud and pull up on the shroud then lay the shroud over fan.
Remove the top two radiator to support bolts and then pull old radiator out.
Reverse the whole process to install the new radiator. Now would be a good time to replace the radiator hoses and thermostat if needed. Whole job should take an hour or so.

Yup, did it about a month ago. radiators.com is by far the least expensive place to obtain a radiator. Try to get a Modine if you can. They are direct stock replacement and are a very reputable company.
