i wish i had thought about the plumbers putty. i too got a good buy in a 2002 f150 which was missing the jack, spare and crank rod. the jack was nearly impossible to procure in the salvage yard. the underhood rod took looking to find but the wench mechanism seemed to be abundant in the JY's in my area. since i had no spare to contend with it was a matter of pulling the the wench and cutting a slot and doing away with the special key. then cut the end of the rod off flush. if someone wants to steal my spare they can have it
Hey Lincoln, I had the same problem and had the dealer replace the entire lock kit for me and provide me with a new key. They told me they had to cut the old one out and put the new one in. The salesman and the dealership had to eat this one because I caught it right after I bought the truck. I don't know if that's an option for you. 2002 Supercrew.
