ok, well overseas military car sales has admitted that the heated seats got missed somewhere between the order and the truck being built. They are willing to refund us the price of the heated seats but that doesn't get the seats. I talked with the parts guys at the dealership and it looks like thye can't just be "replaced" and recommended I look at aftermarket heaters. What is the openion of the group? and anyone have any recomendations of a provider of aftermarket supplier?
No, No, No - You wanted heated seats, you ordered heated seats, you paid for heated seats. Make them provide you with heated seats. This is not a can or can't issue, it's a will or won't issue. It may be difficult and inconvenient, but the can add heated seats.
You tell em Texan2004 . You get what you ordered . Not what they sent . Tell them you want the heated sets from the factory . No if's and's or butt's .
I have talked to both the "seller" as well as the parts counter at the Ford dealership I picjed it up from and they say it can't be done... Are they incorrect?
I agree. I suffered for a couple years with a truck that didn't have what I ordered. Don't do it. Get the seats. It's entirely possible and it's just work on the dealership to get it done.
Have you already taken delivery of the truck . Signed the paperwork . If you took delivery of the truck without the heated seat the dealer will probaly be a pain to deal with . But if you never said it was ok with you I would fit em . The last thing you want to do is keep the truck with out the options you wanted . It will eat away at ya .
Sounds like he ordered the truck through military sales. From what I understand the dealer that he picked the truck up at did nothing but deliver it. They probably had nothing to do with the order and didn't make much if any money. How helpfull do you think they will be?
Me thinks it shouldn't be to hard. I know you will need new seats because of the elements and the Switch on the side. I thought the wire harness under the seat they'll just plug in. I think I have 2 harness' under my seat, one for the seatbelt and one for the heater.
I agree with Tex. You ordered it make them pay. If you decide that you don't want it then make them give you your money back and more. Like a couple free oil changes. It's to easy for them to just say "here is your $350 back".
I wanted them to change my oil with synthetic when they did my service. However most dealers don't cary synthetic oil, so they gave me my service contact money back $650. I said well I signed and I want, just the money isn't good enough because you said it wouldn't be an issue. So they gave me my heater cord for free, even though I didn't need it. I just paid like $50 to have them put it in. You'd be suprised what a letter to the dealer owner will do. I sent one to compliment my salesman and got a free shirt/hat. So one saying something bad I think would get a responce.
I suspect the problem may be that the wiring harness for the heated seats is not there since the truck was not delivered with heated seats. This would explain why the dealer is not interested in adding them. I wonder if they have bothered checking to see if the harness is there. Did someone forget to add the heated seats when they submitted the order to Ford (ot you but the salesperon)? Did Ford screw up and miss the heated seats request and just not install them? Was it wired for heated seats and they installed non-heated seats?
Call another dealer and get a price quote from them to add heated seats to your truck. Don't let them know there was a mistake...act like you did not order them originaly, but now are interested in them. Have them include the price of all the proper harnesses, etc. I am sure they will give you a price because they like to make money. T
Then take that price, and have the dealer credit you THAT amount instead of the $350 because that is the actual value of the seats in your truck at this point in time.
Dealer may decide they don't want the job because the hours allotted for this don't cover the amount of time it takes to really do this. I ran into this on my truck when I wanted ta add reverse sensors. Give it a shot though, it may work out.
Another way to look at this: Let's say the truck came in with the heated seats then you decided you did not want them after the order was placed. Dealer/Ford would say too bad you ordered them, you got them, you pay for them and if you want them removed, you pay to have it done. The converse applies here.
BTW, I have the heated seats (in Houson) and I really like them. I would be disappointed if they stopped working and woud get them fixed. They are a real nice feature.
I would think they just have one standard wiring harness for the SD. My brother had an older ford probe and he was able to put in electric seats and the car itself didn't come from the factory that way, all he did was unbolt and put in the new ones, the plug in was already there and they work fine. If that isn't the case with you. I dont think i'd take the truck. That's just me personally, i also tend to be very very picky. I figure i took the time to sit down and order the truck, i want what i order'd.
