Tom Ridge is like a mannequin in a store window. He's just something to drape the program over to show you they got something like it inside.

For paid anti virus I would use PC cillan, another good free one is Avast which I do use and prefer over Grisoft.

Night Owl, Tom Ridge is a military veteran, former Pa. Governor and served honorably in combat, he let himself go lately.. do not get crazy here, give respect where respect is due.

SierraBen, if you are using Mozilla Firefox, try installing spywareblaster(freebie!) from javacool software. It runs 24/7 in the background and doesn't need any attention except to make sure it's updated.

Well we're getting way off subject now but I never heard of the guy untill this Home land security thing came about. Now he's in charge of something that pertains to me and where I live and he just doesn't strike me as a take charge kinda guy. 'nuff said.

Anything of importence on my computer I burn to CD just in case I do get a really bad one. That time I just DELTREE'd windows in dos and reinstalled it.
Yes, I did and recommended that with windows. I had a friend who kept ignoring me about this on his business computers, he paid big bucks everytime he messed one up. Finally showed him what happened, C: Mandatory Windows and mandatory stuff, D: Windows and programs, E: saved docs and files, F: burn size partition for backing up your data. He couldn't believe it.
