The eighteens do fill out the wheel well nicely though. I think that once all these 05 SD's have been on the road for a while, we'll see a flood of 18" Load Range E tires out there, and at a decent price. there's just too many new SD's out there and the tire manufacturers are sure to recognize the demand
Be nice if some made Load Range E A/T's for the 16" in a 285/75 that actually looked decent! I am runnind D's on mine. I contacted BFG and the make a load range E tire but its a 245, my moms Lincoln Town Cars tires are bigger than that!
Have you looked at the Toyo's Mud Terrain? They make them in an 35x12.50x18 E rated too. I saw a pair at Les Schwabb. Pretty nice tires, if you want mud terrain.
I'm actually waiting for some good looking, aggressive AT's in a E rated tire myself. I hope they get affordable by about the time I repalce my Conti's. If I could only fight the earg to drive my truck so much. I just cant stay out of the cocpit.
as far as i know yokohama makes a 285/75 for the 16 in load range E in all terrain, (the geolander, not sure what series, but a pretty serious AT) best part it's speed rated for 110 MPH! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! YEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAA
and from the little ive read on tire rack its supposed to be a pretty dam good tire, considering the $100 price (approx).........it may not be as good as BFGs ATs, but theyre close, for a lot less the price, which is a consideration, when ya got a dually like myself lol ( good AT dually tires are even more few and far between then ur SRW guys, feel lucky LOL)
hey oldfordstone, get predator chip, take it easy, take the governor off and ull be seeing at least 120 if not more, in the blink of an eye i must say. It amazing what the predator does, i cant speak for the SCMT cause i never used one, but the predator is awesome......i cruise at 80-90................sometimes that extra 20 MPH comes in handy getting around cars on I-95 (the main road between NYC and MIAMI) tust me, when i first took my truck from philly to florida i did ok, vut every once and awhile i need that 105 MPH to pass someone, the [redator allows top engine speed plus lots of extra power, the speed from 70- 120 (or so) is downright amazing for and 8000 lb truck (F-350 CC DRW 4X4).....now i know this is not what the truck is designed for.............i had a 2002 NIssan Maxima for that all modded up..........but i needed a work truck so i got rid of the car......so ill deal with what i have.......but our trucks will haul some serious butttttttttt.......just be sensible about it.........we take a longgggggggggggggggggggg time to stop.
King of the Road, Geezohpete, ya know I think my 6.0 has good gutts now when stock. I can just imagine what a preditor would do. One thing is I would be worried about screwing up my warranty. I dunno, maybe I will look into one of those kits. Gotta put some thought into it though. I also would have to convince the wife foo. She has made it very clear that she owns half of my truck. Then again, I have made it clear that I own half of her 68 Corvette.

Were the 18" wheels available before the 2005's? If not, then hopefully there is a good chance BFG and other mfg's will recognize the market demand for LT275-70/R18's LRE's, especially A/Ts. But if the 18's were available as stock in the 04's and before... then... what the heck are they waiting for???
18's are new for the 05 F350's. They do offer a BFG right now. I have seen them on some of the new 05's. I asked about those tires here on the Super Duty Forum and was replied to that those BFG's aren't the best option. I am waiting for some good choices. I should get some decent mileage out of my Conti's. At least enough to buy some time for a better selection.
Those AT's I referred to weren't the popular BFG All Terrains we all have learned to love. They were called something like rugged country or something like that.
just check out TIRE RACK. COM...........they can hook ya up, plus they have customer opinions on the tires, its a great site............ull find what u are looking for
Thanks, I'll look there. I'm still thinking I can wait until my Conti's wear out as the prices should be coming down by then. I figure that if I rotate them every oil change, I can prolly make em last until next fall/winter at least.
The toyo mud tires that people have been talking about that are 35x12.5r18 are like 350 a piece i think. I'd definately consider getting them, just wanted to make sure they would fit alright. I dont do any towing, hauling or heavy offroading so i'm pretty sure they would fit. Hopefully someone else can try and let me know.
The stock tires that came on my 03 250 are still on it. They are the BFG Rugged Trail T/A's and are pieces of junk for mud. I have 42,000 miles on these original set and I can't wait for this Fall when I will replace these with ones that will clean out and bite! Look forward to seeing more on what others are recommending.
