i have a 1981 f250 w/400 flat top 9 to 1 pistons,comp 268 cam, edelbrock 600 carb and edelbrock performer manifold- c6 tranny and i'm running bf goodrich at's 35 " and have a crappy a 3.00 gear ratio. what ratio would be good for 4 wheeling and still be ok for the highway{more towards wheeling though}?
remember with 35's and 4.11's it would be the same as having 3.40 gears with stock 29's, or with 4.56's it would be like having 3.77 gears, you get that by doing 29/35x4.11 and 29/35x4.56 you can get rpm by S/ts*gr*336
s=speed
ts=tire size
gr=gear ratio
with 35's at 60 mph and 4.11 gears you would be turning 2367 rpm
(remember MOST tires are about half an inch smaller than what they claim)
1985 F-150/351Ho/4wd/6inch with 33's
1979 f-250 429/4spd/6inchwith 36 inch buckshot mudders
on a quiet night your can hear a chevy (lol,you can watch a dodge) rusting away
