Hi guys, I'm new here, I've had a 2000 4.2 Manual tranny reg cab for a couple of years, never had any trouble until now. It's got 43000 miles on it.
I just replaced the lower control arms, ball joints and tie-rods.
I got it back from the dealer and it starts to vibrate when downshifting in 3rd gear, and there is a clicking noise when accelerating or downshifting, but it seems intermitant. Maybe more noise when it's cold out? It sounds like it's coming from just behind or under the cab. It seems to be getting worse. What is causing this? My guess is something to do with the driveshaft or u-joint, but i'm no mechanic.
Any help would be great. Thanks
The noise doesn't sound like a rattling cat. No noise at all when idling, only under fairly heavy acceleration or downshifting. the vibration is mostly in the steering wheel, and occurs during deceleration in 3rd gear, it starts around 40 MPH (60 KPH) and keeps vibrating as long as I am decelerating.
The rattle seems to follow RPM's
