If you have the 8.8, I would suggest not getting a chrome one, they hold in heat. If you want an aluminum one I'm pretty sure that 1998 Crown Vic’s came with them. All you have to do is polish it. Call the dealer they can tell you what year, and I think they are around $50, compared to $100+ for aftermarket ones.

Aluminum versions are available on e-bay all the time for $20 "Buy it now" pricing. I almost bought one until I found a good deal on a Trick-Flow aluminum cover with the support studs. Those usually sell for $140 but if you're planning on being hard on your rear-end they're worth it.
