I just ordered gauges and now im going for a tuner.Well the only problem is decisions decisions and decisions.Anyways i have been reading for about the last week on these things and man its not easy to decide what one to get.I am planning on pulling my travel trailer and it weighs around 8,000 lbs i think. Its a 30ft.Well any ways i wont be pulling it everyday but when we go on vacation. The wife drives it back and forth to work as a daily driver so i want something that is reliable. It gets cold here in michigan and i have heard people complain saying the predator wont start when its cold out? So i thought i would ask.Any help would be great thanks guys.
My predator was ok when it was -8 with no block heater(didn't mean to) and it fired up good. Most of the time people complained about the predator they didn't have the updates, I bought mine and it was the old version, downloaded the new tune, and couldn't be happier.
I have tried both the Predator and the Edge Juice. To me both perform about the same with the Edge winning out due to the ability to switch between power settings. I pull a 30+ foot travel trailer and have had no issues with the Edge Juice or Predator.
WEll i guess i will have flip a quarter to make my decision.Like i said its betweed the predator and Edge Evolution. The juice you can switch on the go.But the EDGe evolution you cant.I like the predator because of more hp options, high altitude and trans shift firmness. The evolution seems to be popular with towers. But you cant adjust the shifts its already calibrated. So hmmmmm
I would choose the Predator. It can also do simple data logging and clear DTCs as well as the shift firmness. The shift firmness wasn't such a big deal to me because I had already put in a shift kit.
I have the evolution and love it. It made a huge performance differance and on the highest setting the truck comes alive. With the evolution you also have a data stream, 1/4 mile times and can check/clear codes.
I may go with the attitude and juice setup. And send back my autometer gauges.I found out that i get a hell of a deal from work on all different programers diablo, edge, bully dog, hyper tech all of them.Basically i get them at cost.Man i was surprised. So this may lead me to the edge attitude and juice.
But was wondering how is the edge attitude with juice compared to the edge evolution.

I have the Edge Juice w/attitude. The only problem is there is no provision for shift firmness. No good when you add HP and TQ. If you have a shift kit installed you will be fine.
I still like the Edge. I recently added a SCMT set on tow safe and make adjustments for more power with the Edge. Now the tranny shift are good.
According to edges website the juice/attitude can be stacked with evolution? It seems to me that would be the best of both worlds (tranny tuning from evolution and a little tunability on the fly). Plus built in gauges and ability to read codes.
The only thing is that if the Juice gives you 75hp and the evolution is 100hp stacking them will not give you 175hp (wheee!) maybe 110-120. Anyone actually running this setup?
Nice review, but I hardly agree that the evo is the best all round tuner.
The Predator has 2 more tunes (1 altitude towing and 1 extra performance), plus it dyno's out 150 ft-lbs more than the Evo on the 100hp tune! And it only costs $30 more retail wise! (FWIW I'd never pay that much for the Diablo, when Ken has much better deals.) $30 for an extra 150 ft-lbs is CHEAP in terms of performance vs dollars, especially when you are already cranking out $350 bucks.
Toss in that the Predator is the only one capable of downloading custom tunes (read propane, nitro, ect) and updates via your PC, makes the Diablo Predator the best bang for your buck! All the others have to be sent in on your dime.
Don't forget that the Predator allows YOU to choose the shifting firmness, while on the others you are stuck with whatever the tuner puts in.
Sure, the Evo measures performance times, but who really cares??? I'd really much rather have the extra tunes and the extra 150 ft-lbs!
I spent 2 long weeks looking at options for my 7.3L and the Predator is what I choose.
