Sending unit test points?

Gas gauge read totally empty when switched to front tank, I think it's the Sending unit in the front tank. I like to find out testing points at connector top of the fuel tank. I like to test fuel gauge and sending unit. diagram, wire color, location, test method and such would help alot. Thank you in advance,

Make sure your ground wires are clean and tight. start there first then go from there.

Should I attach a new ground strip on chassis to gastank? but if the ground is the problem shouldn't my gauge read full instead of zero? It's been raining here so I didn't get to work on it but what if I just disconnect the connector on top of the gastank? the fuel guauge should read full? and when blue/yellow? wire is grounded the gauge should read empty?
Help me out! I have a Chilton manual and 87 factory electrical/vacumm manual but seems very different for 92.
