fuel system wiring
I have a sending unit problem on the front tank and would like to make some electric tests before dropping the tank.

I have the haynes and the colors aren't the same as mine.

If you want to test to see if it's the sending unit, find the sending unit wire on the front tank(darkblue/yellow) and disconnect it. Make sure the switch is in the front tank position, and the key is in run(engine can be off). While someone is watching the fuel gauge, ground the sending unit wire, and then take it off ground and let it hang in the air. If the wiring and the gauge are ok, the gauge will swing back and forth everytime you ground and unground the wire.
If you have the system like the diagram above, you have a motorized valve that does the sending unit switching. If the valve is bad, it will make the above test fail, even though the gauge and the wiring may be good.
