$1.65/gallon.....
If this keeps up, there is no justification for regular consumers like me owning a diesel. At this momment, it costs less to drive my V10 than my PSD.
Now that China and India have discovered the joy of driving, the supply and demand for oil will own change for the worse.
Realistically, if this goes on for another month I'll probably have to give up driving a diesel regardless of how fun it is to drive. It just doesn't make sense driving a diesel if it's going to be 40 cents more than regular unlead gas.

I am in North Carolina and I paid 2.25 sounds cheap compared to California. I have resorted to driving a Honda POS due to high diesel prices. Does any one have access to Bio Diesel? I keep hearing of a Bio Diesel plant being built in Mt. Olive, NC and I am just curious how much that is going to be per gallon.

Do I care, you bet! Can I do much about it??? Not really.
Even though diesel is higher, it is still cheaper to run than my F-150 that only gets 15mpg on the open road tops and that was with 93 octane and a chip!
My 7.3L gets 15-16 in town, and the rest is icing on the cake.
Considering what I was paying for premium gas, and current diesel prices makes it a moot point for me.

Prices are getting out of hand. I am very near parking the PSD - except for work - and using my motorcycle for most travel. It requires premium, but premium gasoline and diesel are about the same price here - and the bike gets near 50 mpg.
Of course, it doesn't have a radio, air conditioning, heater, etc.
By the way, one reason diesel costs more than home heating oil is because diesel has a bunch of state and federal taxes attached since it is a 'motor fuel' for use on highway.
If you know anyone that operates off-highway diesels, like grading equipment, etc., they use diesel fuel that is not allowed in highway vehicles. It is much cheaper than pump diesel and is dyed a different color (red, I think). Police check for it at truck check points. The fine for having it in the tank of a highway vehicle is pretty steep. It is much cheaper to just pay the fuel taxes at the pump.

The only reason I am still driving my PSD is because my 92 Exploder only gets 15 MPG too, so to save .05 per gallon I prefer to look good! Here in Houston diesel is currently 2.19 and the part that gets me is it went up .15 per gallon overnight damn I wish I werent so lazy and tired the night before when I needed a fillup and said naw I'll wait till morning to fill up.
PS Blue96psd I too am collecting cans!! I hope I dont have to start roaming the roadside to collect them! lol

NJ is around 2.10. I had looked into Waste Vegtable Oil conversions last year. It's discussed under some other threads. Now I figure at $60 a fillup and a fill a week it will pay off within 6 months.
Engine conversion
Auxiliary WVO tank under the truck
Straining setup at home (no chemicals required like biodiesel)
Now to put a diesel in my '01 Mustang convertible. There's a project.

Unleaded is $219 and diesel is $223, just filled up last night. I'll keep my powerstroke. I don't think they are making a gas engine yet that will tow and haul like my diesel, and still get more than 8mpg.....
Can't wait till spring though to break out the 50 mpg cycle. Still alot of snow up here in WI.

Farm fuel is the same way tax free and it's dyed red. Here in illinois if you are caught they fine you a dollar amount per mile all the way back to zero. I've pondered hooking up a farm service tank in the bed and plumbing that to the motor and just keeping a few inches of fuel in the stock tank because that's the one they dip. Something to ponder. There's always a way to beat the system.

I think Im gonna buy a volkswagen diesel and get 45mpg on the highway. I have to go 200+ miles 3 times a week and using 13 gallons in a volkswagen compared to 40+ in my truck is a big difference. Hate to have to do this but at 2.30 a gallon the $ I save on gas a month I could have a 3rd car.
