Well, I just wanted to share my near costly blunder with everyone. My rear window stopped working and from reading the problems here on the board had pretty much resigned myself to getting a new motor. I was going to get it this afternoon, but decided to give the ole Bronc'nstein a check up to see if there was anything else she needed. Lo and behold it was a blown fuse the whole time. When I had pulled the fuse to check it I had confused which one was the proper fuse. Lesson learned and ego bruised.
Discovered it was a circuit breaker rather than a fuse after all? There are two C/B in positions 12 and 14 in the block. One for the keyswitch power and the other for the dashboard switch power. 30Amp auto-resetting type.
Glad you found it BEFORE you got the motor. Even the circuit breakers are less costly than the motor.
Well, you found it, didn't you. Didn't have to spend the money after all and in my book that makes you just like the rest of us. We all have that kind of story. Glad yours wasn't costly!
I am having a problem with my ignition (i believe is the problem) I have checked the fuses and they seem good. How do i check for other circuit etc. or is that not a possibility? Here's the situation..
I replaced the solenoid. I charged the battery- when reattaching the cables to the battery - the truck tried to start on its own - without me in the driver's seat and turning the key. WEIRD! Has anyone heard or know anything about this? The battery is charged to 12 volts. I have been told it could be the ignition switch. Does anyone have pics on replacing this? How do you open the steering column to access the switch?
