I would appreciate advice for resolving the problem of a stuck distributor in a 360. The engine still runs good but I attempted to adjust the timing and could not get it to move. The distributor is the original with 140,000 miles and was removed and replaced during a valve job 15 years ago.
...I've used a chwin type strap wrend numerous times to remove a stuck distributor. Never had one put up a fight to the old chain wrench. If you do it right there will be minimal or no damage to the housing.

The problem was resolved by allowing the engine to cool and spraying the distributor shaft with penetrating oil. Thanks for all of the responses.
