maybe, one thing at a time. I just took off the street advenger and set my old carb in there, but its only temp. cause i'm sure it needs to be rebuilt. But that wont get done till friday cause i'm broke till then.
i know you replaced the fuel pump and carb but if it dying under load still sounds like a fuel problem either the carb isnt adjusted properly or you have a bad new fuel pump if you have access to a fuel pressure gauge i would test the pressure . what type carb did you get
It sounds like your tourque converter is staying locked, you should have it tested. I had a simular problem on an 85 Olds Calais. It was a vacumn actuated overdrive problem. It wouldn't let the tourque converter unlock so when I put it into gear it would die.

exactly, but what if it IS locking? old parts gather years of debris and gunk that jam stuff up when it isn't supposed to. I also don't know much about torque converters, or tranny's, so take my post for what it's worth.
