how to take out back window

The easiest way I found is to use a cotter pin removal tool (looks kinda like an awl that has a couple of funky bends in it), and hook it under the edge of the rubber weatherstrip, and just kinda slide-n-pry the window out. Don't want to twist the window too much, of course. You can also use the same tool to install the window in a different truck. Might also want to check the pinch weld to make sure there's no rust or bends in it, while you have the window out.

Hope this helps!
Chuck

how to take out back window

Hi folks, I'm a new member here. I found this process worked well to install the rear window: Wrap a long piece of 1/8" nylon cord a little more than 2 times around the perimeter of the window, inside the gasket groove. Leave plenty of line on either end so you can grap it. Have a friend hold the bottom of the window in place, and feed the ends of the rope into the cab. From inside the cab, slowly unwrap the line and feed the gasket as you go. The reason for 2 wraps is just to make sure the gasket is well seated.

As for removing the window, the only tools I've ever used to remove the rear window were the backs of my sister's and my heads when I got rear-end by a drunk going about 45mph!

The cord trick is the way to go! I've taken out and installed a number of windows that way and it works like a charm!

I found taking windows out to be fairly easy: pry the rubber loose (you don't necessarily need to buy a new one) with your hands or screwdrivers and carefully take the window out. It always worked for me.
