I am not sure about 40-41 trim fitting, (it should be the same ), but...the cabs are nearly identical, so....
The 42 thru 47 cabs are the same . When you say dash, do you want the cluster (gauge panel) or the complete panel? If the panel is rusted out it will be a problem as the original is a welded assembly.
I can help on the windshield trim. Where are you?
I'm located in SE GA, just north of Jax, FL. 31558. I was just out looking at the cab and is going to be a real jop to replace the dash. I need the instrument cluster and the rest of the dash as well. I have a 41 with a decent cab for backup if nothing else works. How much for the trim?
The garnish moldings fomr a '40-'41 will work on the 42-47 cabs, same part number. The dash panel, as mentioned, is a wleded integral part of the cab. Customizers used to swap them out, but it can be a bit of an undertaking. Since they are pretty basic though you might be able to patch it instead of replacing the whole thing.
I read an article about fiber glassing the underside of a rotted out dash in an issue of street rodder, don't recall what issue.....sorry!!! hope this helps.
John
don't think anybody sells the trim for round the window new - but they are the same 40 -47 - if anyone does find someone who sells ity new let me know mines shot to hell as well
I should have good extra windshield trim, will check today. Don't have a clue as to its "value", so...
Can't help on a good dash cluster, there are at least two versions that I have come across, one for the 6, and one for the V-8.
You can reach me via e-mail at: kelley46achers@aol.com. I have three 46/7 trucks, one mostly original, one being built as a "money pit" rod, and a "someday" future project.
I am in need of good running boards, prefer steel, but am looking at the "glass" ones.
There were only 2 gauges clusters, one for the 3 speed trans models with a speedometer that reads to 100 mph, the other cluster was used on 4 speed trucks, that one has reading up to 60 mph. The engine in the truck didn't determine the cluster used. And it's only the speedometer that is different, the rest of the gauges are the same. The 3 speed units seem to be more popular (and valuable) since they read up to 100 mph, much better to use today if you do an engine swap.
Thanks for clarifying the Speeodmeter issue. When I bought my original 46 it had a six cylinder with a four speed and had the 60 mph speedometer. I guess I just assumed the 100 mph was for the V-8.
Yeah, it's odd that the 3 speeds had a 100 mph speedometer, while the 4 spds got the 60 mph...my '46 6 cylinder/3 spd had a 100 mph speedo, while my '47 1 ton V8/4 spd has a 60 mph.
As for the value of the trim, keep an eye out for them on eBay...I have seen a few sets in the last month or so.
