my chassis is rusty is there a fix or do I need a nother chassis
I am a capable mechanic I wondered if I could weld the pits up
then Powder Coat it BTW I am restoring the truck for a car club show THIS SEPTEMBER thanks for any help
If it's pitted it's probably too late. Surface rust can be taken off with a wire wheel in a drill or grinder. If you need to replace the frame, call a bunch of wreckers to see if they have one almost stripped. I found an 88 frame for my 87 for $100 Cdn that they just happened to be almost done stripping when I asked. The changeover is fairly time consuming depending on your experience but it really gives you a good feel for the condition and the location of all the components in your truck.
