I currently have a 1982 1/2 ton lariat single cab long wheel base with two gas tanks. Everything but the radio and speakers is stock.
Ok now if I bought a four door cab let's say 90ish and gutted it to later remodel it with an 80ish look, what all do I need to know about that.
For the bed I'm thinking about flat bed style with a tool box not sure yetm
That sounds like one heck of a can of worms. Im inclined to think that you might be better off starting with a solid 95/96, and just do a front clip and trim swap.
Also I still want it to be a 1/2 ton with my 302 AOD and 9"rear end. More room same
performance same gas mileage but more room and still get to drive my pride.

It would no longer be your pride after all of that
swapping cabs can be FUN , you would need to build the rear cab mounts and if your wanting a flat bed then that would be a piece of cake as you dont need to cut the bed down !
From the factory, I think it was around 1965; trucks with 3 & 4 doors prior to that were
custom jobs built by coachworks places (or so I seem to remember).
