I mounted the Vintage Air Gen II and had to remove the passenger side wiper arm linkage to clear the a/c case under the dash. To make it fit and still have wipers, I had to weld in a 5" arch to the linkage and then cut out the middle of the arch there it crashed into the a/c case. I am almost ready to wire it and connect the hose ducts if I can reach up inside the glove box far enough. The glove box is only 2 inches deep after installing the unit. I had to modify the L shaped hanging bracket because one sharp edge would have worn through the plastic case in a few miles. If I had it do to over, I wouldnt have added a/c.

Ranger Pat-
I also lost the glove box but didn't experience the other problems with the wipers or the L bracket and I also have a 56 and used the Gen II unit. I wonder what's up????????
it is so sad.. but its even worse when a company assumes that everyone read there direction can comperhend them.. Heck I run a shop here in town and just recieved a new dyno and the instructions are so poorly written even the tech support guys dont fully understand them.. And I have a Master in enginering.. Is really sad.. this book has 1500 pages and no one can understand them....
Sounds like the author is the same guy who wrote the Federal Income Tax instructions ....
