I have a 98 Expedition EB w/ 113,00 mi. I keep getting a intermiten skip. It might skip for a mile it might skip for 50 or it might not skip for 2 weeks. I did the plugs about 3 months ago w/ autolite DPs. Ford had it for a week they said they noticed the problem but couldn't get any codes to come up. Cost me $100 and still not any closer to fixing it.
i would say that you could have a bad cop. but, i would also think that the dealer would pick up on that. i would check them first though...... the 5.4 is notorious for leaking coolant onto the # 4 cop. i have changed mine 3 times and it is a 99. goodluck !
I'm going to replace #4 coil. The whole top of the coil looks wet. The killer is I told the ford service guy that #4 looked wet. When I picked up my truck the guy at the service desk told me his truck did the same thing and he had to change all the coil. (Probley not bad to do with his employee discount.)
I have had the same problem on a 5.4 engine. What is a COP? (probably a dumb question )
COP- coil on plug. Each plug has its own ignition coil, eliminates the need for a conventional distributor. Spark distribution controled by the computer.
