Fx-4

This may sound stupid but what does FX-4 mean.I know its the off road package. But what does it stand for,anything?

Never heard what FX/4 stands for... if anything.

However, the FX/4 became the NBX = No Boundries eXperience.

Four x 4. Ford did this as to make the package so that it didn't sound like the other 4 wheel drives they produce...I.E. calling a 4X4 a $x$. Let's get creative... came up with Fx4.
