What does the FX4 package really include?

Thanks for the help with the keypad guys. Now I'm in a argument with a buddy about what comes in the FX4 package. Anyone got details to shut this guy up?

this only applies to 2004+ trucks. the 2004 and older body style trucks, the FX4 package was a convenience group you could buy on top of the base model...that is why you see a "Lariat FX4"

starting in 2004, the FX4 became it's own model. It is the bridge between the XLT and a Lariat...basically a FX4 is a upgraded XLT...but can be fully decked out like a Lariat (which an XLT cannot)

Interior:
Custom Black + Carbon Fiber Dash
Grey or Black Seats (cloth or leather)
Inst. Cluster says FX4 (if it has center shifter)
Exterior:
Textured Black Wheel Flares
Paint to match bumpers
17", 18", 20" "FX4" specific rims
32" tires (275/65/18 & 275/55/20 are most prevalent)
FX4 sticker on bedsides
XL "H" bar grille with painted surround
5.4 Triton fender emblems
Drivetrain:
5.4 3v motor standard
3.73 LS rear-end
3.55 LS rear-end if your truck came with 20's from the factory (some exceptions, but a pretty general rule)
Different shocks from normal 4x4
Heavy Duty Tow Package standard
skidplate
You can pretty much get everything in the above list on any other F-150 version. But you have to pay the premium for it.

The FX4 takes the best features of the F-150 and puts them all into 1 package. IMO, this makes it the most cost effective, and most usefull F-150 currently built.

Hope this helps you out some

@ air1jpg

yes...Ford spec'd the 20's for 3.55 gears...but then guys like you have the 3.73...and nobody knows why.

just consider yourself lucky IMO.

I almost wonder if it might be a 2007+ model thing, and the 2006 and older get 3.73 period

Is it possible that dealers may have just switched rims and tires around?

Might be...according to my build sheet I paid extra for 3.55 gears matched with 20" rims...

Not so, i have a 2006 and ended up with the 3.55, much to my dismay! now considering a gear swap due to this and wanting bigger tires!

like I said...it's completely random. Ford says 1 thing...and then you find a truck that was completely built differently

it could even be something as simple as Dearborne trucks vs. the other plant

btw, if you do a gear swap, only do a 4.10 or deeper gearset. 3.73 is so close to 3.55 gears that you won't really notice a change

I wouldn't be surprised if some dealers did that, if any of them did, I hope they adjusted the speedometer as well. The window sticker on my truck had the 3.73LS and the 20" rims listed in the optional equipment section.

iwas going with either 4.10 or 4.56 as suggested by trylus, but not sure about how high my truck is going to rev with that deep of a gearset.
sorry off topic i know!
