Just a note to anyone who needs a shortbox F-100,F150 driveshaft conversion ! While wondering through the autowreckers I stumbled upon a driveshaft sitting in the back of a small Ranger truck a shortbox and what was the odds of this being the right size,well after measuring I was pleasently surprised to see that it was exactly 52" . This is exactly the length of the existing shaft so after careful consideration I took it home for a price of $69.00 including tax in which I probably could have got it cheaper from another Wreckers had I known that this shaft would have worked ! I then brought it home to see if it would work and I used the input shaft or spline on the existing shaft as it was still in good shape and the width size were the universal joints set are 3-1/2" both ways and it all lined up great ! Now for the back this was a bigger task as the shaft size is 3-1/2" but the yoke size on the differential is 4" . This presented one more stumbling block I had to go to London Driveline to see if I could get a universal joint with two different sizes and yes that was possible for a price of $37.00 including taxes ! Final installation went smooth and once again our old Ford was off and running better than ever ! This was a cheaper fix than trying to get a new shaft from Ford or a made up one as it is very hard to find a used shaft to fit this old Stepside . Hojo Dorchester Ontario
