Hello CdnSoldier, I've had my display go off and on (mostly off) for a few years now. I haven't found a place in Canada to fix it but you could bring it to an electronics repair shop with the information available on this site and ask them to resolder the board for you.
P.S. - My brother was stationed at Petawawa for a while. If you don't know of anyplace to go, he might. I could ask.
Hello
Thanks, There was a shop in Quebec. But they will not repair it unless it's through a Ford dealer. I'm posted to NB, and no shop will fix it. E mail me, I may know your brother. I was posted there for many yrs.
I had a problem with radio display on my 99 Explorer Sport. My actual radio was manufactured by Pioneer. I removed the radio and copied the info from the stickers on the back of the unit. I called Pioneer and explained the problem and gave them the data I had copied. They knew exactly the problem I was having. I bought the display board board, which is part of a three board set, and simply replaced it in the unit myself. Its a very easy procedure. I paid less than $100 US and had the pleasure of not paying someone else to to do it for me.
I ordered my replacement display driver board from:
Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.
Customer Support Division 1925 Dominguez Street
Post Office Box 1760
Long Beach, California 90801-1760
Phone: 1-800-421-1404
Fax: Customer Service (310) 952-2821
Parts Dept (310) 952-2247
I paid $89.95 for the set of three boards, one of which was the display driver board.
I also spoke with a really nice customer service representative named Angela who was of great help.
Replacing the board was very easy.
Hope this helps.
Pioneer will not sell to Canadians from the US. Pioneer Canada does not sell parts.
That sucks.
Maybe you could send the cash to oso2324, he can order for you and send it to you.............or, just get an after market one to replace the factory one.
Ye maybe.
In a Explorer after markets look out of place. If they made one the same size maybe. But my wifes is the top of the line one and it works great.
Ya, I hear ya wanting to keep it factory. I have the JBL Premium Sound in my '94 and I love it, never has given me a problem.
If you have any relatives in the states, you possibly could get them to order it for you, or maybe you have some army buddies in the states that could help you out. Just trying to figure out some options for you.
I know a Canadian military member serving in the Washington DC area. He is the president or group leader of the Northern Virginia chapter of Open Sorce Intelligence Meetup group. He also belongs to the Ottawa chapter. Might I suggest that you look go to http://osint.meetup.com/2/events/4337627/ and introduce yourself. He may be able to help you, after all, we military types help each other.
