1992 explorer window problem
Hey all. my drivers side passenger door is having problems with the window,it keeps sliding down and wont go up. I removed the door panel to find a spring and a hollow tub like part laying onthe bottom,i hear the motor and it sounds find,its just that the window wont go up or down and is very lose. Any ideas?

Im having the same problem with my left rear window. Motors fine, but window dosen't roll up or down and it slides down. I thought maybe it might be off track, I know I need a regulator for my passenger window though

It may be off track, or it may be the regulator, or it may be the gears. On my '92 left rear, I had to replace the regulator (old one broke the cable and it wrapped up horribly). If it's the gears, I think I recall a post not too long ago with a source for the gears. Seem's like they were HELP items if you know the part number and that number was referenced in the post. You may want to search this forum if yours is a gear problem.

Had the same problem. I took a little different approach to the problem. Took off door panal and took a small locking pliers and locked it on the base of the window to somthing solid and locked them together with the locking pliers(taped handle of pliers with duct tape so it could not release.). Can't use the window anymore, but it takes care of the problem of window sliding down

Since you found a little spring inside your door, the cable broke off from the spool assembly. This is where the spring was supposed to be. You need a new regulator. I just did both my rear windows - how nice they both failed a couple weeks apart. I got the regulators new off e-bay. I wouldn' trust a used one - no sense doing the job more than once. There are also some on e-bay claiming to be rebuilt with a warranty - up to you to try. My new ones cost about $85 total with shipping for 2. But I waited a long time to find the right listings that no one else bid on. You can go to Ford too - but at $224 each.
