Yep, I have bought craftsman tools on ebay with no problems. They were at an amazing price, since not many people bid on them. The only thing you need to be wary of is the sellers feedback. If they have any----any------negative feedback as a seller then I don't bid. I will find just as good a deal with another seller. Also, ask the seller any questions before placing a bid. And good luck!

Bummer about the Snap-on ratchet, but thats enough to turn me off from them You should check out a thread called "? on Craftsman lifetime garauntee" in the garage forum, I beleive.

I would personally stick with people who have stores, or if there is buy back protection. You don't get shipping back though

I've had some good luck w/ tools on there, bought some wrenches & ratchets on there for pretty good prices. Did kinda get burnt on a Lindsay 35 sandblaster (gave $150, excellent small pressurized blasters, about $600 new; now Marco) Anyway, it was supposed to be ready, I got it (from CA) and the valve in the bottom looked as if some idiot had went to the beach and dipped sand in it (very rusty, rocks in there, pieces broken) I had to order a rebuild kit from Marco ($75), guy wouldn't answer my emails. Anyway, just find out all you can about the product b4 you bid.

I don't know for a fact, but was told that Snap~on uses virgin steel, Craftsman will melt down and add the steel back in. And Snap~ons process is supposed to involve stamping things like wrenchs out, verses most of the others casting.

As for Warranty, Craftsman has a catch 22 as well, though the last time I saw it enforced around here was the 80's. You can't use the tool professionally, it was supposed to void the warranty. I think they were sued because while the tool is lifetime warranty, they say your satisfaction is garanteed, kinda caught themselves in their own catch-22.

I bought a snap-on TQ series torque wrench from ebay a few months ago and it was more than worth it. I payed $120 for it and it is nearly new. Just look at all the details, pics, price, and feed back and you should be good.

I have better luck at my local pawn shops. Let us know if you found a good deal on Ebay.
