I am wondering if anyone else has had these problems and if you got them resolved. I have a 2004 F250 that seems to have two personalities when accellerating. One is when I accellerate quikly (as to pass someone) the truck starts to cough and flutter until I let off the gas and then it stops, plus I can hear the whine and hiss of the turbo which seems normal. The other personality
is that I start up the let it warm up and when I try to accellerate quikly again
and I get the dead pedal , bad turbo lag in which it takes about 3-4 seconds for
the turbo to kick in, plus now I cant here the turbo at all , but once it kicks in
it runs stong without any coughing or fluttering . So today I am taking it to the
dealer and I dont know how it going to act , I hope I didn't confuse anybody ,
but this is the only way I can explain it
Just got it back from dealership yesterday , they replaced pedal assy because
they thought that the pedal was shorting out , plus the glow plug relay because
they thought there was excessive smoke coming out at startup. But when I
started driving it home it did the same thing it did when I brought it in, it started
to cutout and flutter when I slowly flored it. Now this morning driving to work, I couldnt get it to flutter at all, This thing is posessed . Ok !! now here is the key question for all you 6.0 masters. Why is it when my truck starts to cutout and flutter when accellerating, you can hear the turbo whine as clear as day, but
when its not coughing and fluttering , you cant here the turbo at all. Like I said
this thing has two personalities, and I'm slowly going insane !!!!!. It's weird ,
Everytime I turn the key , I dont know which personality my truck is going to have.
Thanks for the reply guys , you may be right. I also think it may be the EGR
valve , the turbo itself , or maybe one of the injectors. At this point it could be
anything. It's at the dealership right now, so I can imagine what they are going to come up with. Thanks again !!!
Your right Dogdude, There are to many sensors on these things. Well I just talked to my dealer rep and he's telling me they are going to replace the
Turbo , because I guess they are saying the turbo doesn't know how to handle the boost , so it coughs it up and sputters and does that fluttering thing, or
what everybody is calling wapapapapapapa . They say it will be ready on
Monday , but I have to be a pesamist , because this is the third time it's been
in there for the same problem. Oh well, maybe my luck will change. I'll let you
know on Monday. See Ya !!!!!
gMAN...my turbo was doing that last week...it's not the turbo, because it stopped when I unplugged the EGR and doesn't do it now that I have replaced all the sensors. Why wouldn't the turbo be able to "handle the boost"? It's making the boost.
Ask the dealer to replace the EGR, EBP, while it's there.
It still might be one of the sensors too !! but , like I said ,sometimes I can hear the turbo and sometimes I cant ,so it makes me believe that it's got to do something with the turbo. I have read some posts that point to the EGR or EBP
and they sound reputable, but I guess I'll let them start with the Turbo !!!!
I guess I will see on Monday if they know there stuff and fix the problem or I
will have to borrow some of your gas and a match !!! Ha! Ha!
Oh yea...I'm not saying to turn down a brand new turbo for sure! And that may be the problem...but also, maybe not...let them figure it out and get some new parts!
LOL Good luck my friend.
