Gas mileage question

Hi guys and gals,

does anybody know the gas mileage of an standard Armee Humvee?
I was told that that Hummer (with an 6.x ltr. Chexxx engine) is a real gasoline guzzler with 6 mpg.

Is that true??

depending on the year model of the humvee, it would have either a 6.2 non turbo diesel, or a 6.5 turbo diesel. the latter having the 6.5. only the custon civilian models come with gas motors. while it is not a real feul sipper 6mpg is a bit harsh, it is probably more likely to get around 11 or 12. keep in mind they have 37" tires, are are very low geared...not to mention HEAVY. when they first came out for the public Gov. ARNOLD SWARTS, bought the first one and have a big block put in it, (you dont want to drive a big smelly diesel in Beverly hills do you?), that truck probably gets about 6mpg

BTW, I think 6 mpg is not a huge problem for Arnie

For almost 1/2 a year, my truck was giving me 6-8mpg.... Arnie can definetly handle it.

I think that is true with the very poor gas mileage. seems i have read that some where b4. i will research it some more and put up another post on this

"As you’ve probably figured, gas mileage is not going to be a strong point of the H2. It’s rated at 12 MPG city and 16 MPG highway and made the 2003 meanest for the environment list for it. But owners are reporting an average of 8 to 11 MPG with mixed driving. With a 32 gallon tank, it can only get about 256 to 352 miles per tank."

With gas about $2/gal that works out to about 20-22 cents/mile in fuel cost alone.
That is twice what I average in my F150.
