ur lucky in australia then...i cant get my hands on a manual truck unless it comes with a dump or in the f 450 f550....diesels and autos dont mix its just my firm belief...u can get a professionally done tranny and then id take an auto....but a truck is a man's vehicle...i know how to use a cup holder for my coffee lol so standard doesnt bother me one bit....putting an auto behind a diesel is almost as ludicrous as an auto behind a dodge viper ...ud raise an eyebrow and laugh and say "why"?
Not in Australia, you would struggle to find an Auto
Most are regular cabs, in XL spec.
We do get XLT spec, but not many of them.
Almost all of them are box delete from factory, so the owner can fit their own tray...
I have to disagree with the auto with a diesel statement. until you have drove a dmax ally i don't think that is a fair statement. i mean ally is bout as good as it gets i mean allison are put in tanks. have you not seen the gmc "we are professional grade". my dad kept has 1989 chevy till 1999 .... it was showing wear and had seen 1,000 pictures if had been in 1. think my dad cryed when he sold that truck.
boxes are a matter of versatility but the cost doesn't justify the advantages as far as for putting a 100 gal fuel tank in the back with a tool box. also with such a narrow box room the ATV would never go anywhere without a trailer ... what a pain. i also don't think boxes look as good as the regular bed. just my .02
the allison tranny is the biggest expense u can have in apickup...replacement parts are through the roof...upgrades are through the roof and there are many many electronic glitches...im not putting it down but its only rated for 590 torque unless they upped the rating.....its just not cost effective to run such an expensive auto tranny in a working diesel truck...if u drive empty all the time and just commute with ur truck then maybe...a professionally built automatic is nice thats true though
oh and keeping atruck for 10 years is a minimum! a lil escort or corrolla will last me over 10 years so a truck shouldnt even hickup after 10 (im strict on this lol)...ive heard of guys saying how durable and reliable their trucks are.."got it in 2001" thats what it has come to?? anything over 3 years?? thats sad lol...i buy anew truck i shouldnt have to touch an injector or anything till at least 300 000kms and the tranny for at least 200 000kms anything below that is a lemon in my book and low quality now im getting off topic haha
