I was able to use a six-point impact socket (it's what I had in that size). There's enough clearance for the thicker-walled socket to fit (that's not always the case).
You'll want to use a properly-fitting socket or wrench, as the plugs are of an anodized aluminum alloy, not steel, and their corners will round-off easily. I would not recommend using a "universal" tool like a Crescent wrench or vice grips.
The same dealer that keeps telling me that nothing is available, said there is no part No. for that o-ring. I bought an assortment of various o-rings at my FLAPS, and one fit perfectly: hard to install, but not so hard that installation sheared off half the o-ring.

I expect that will take care of that.
I had the same issue with my '95 (RIP). I just went down to the local McLendon's hardware and grabbed an o-ring off the shelf. The stock o-ring looked like it actually had a square cross-section, but that sensor never leaked from the time I replaced the o-ring until my Aero's untimely demise (about 5 years). That was a $0.99 solution and I paid way too much for that o-ring. The dealer just wanted to sell a new sensor at close to $100.
