Does anyone know if the door speakers are the same/identical for systems with/without audiophile system?Does each system get a different type speaker?Does each system get a different amount of speakers? Thanks for any info.you can provide.
Sorry Ruckus, I don't know, but am kind of curious myself. This will move the post back up, hope someone with the fancy system will post.
Do the Audiophile have tweeters stock? I know they have the subwoofer.
On the standard radio the stock speakers are 25 watt, and OK, if you don't really need great sound. Aftermarket speakers that fit easily, and work fine start at about 20.00 apiece.
On my reg cab I find an 8 inch subwoofer is more base than I need.
Of course I'm into hearing the music, not feeling it.
I use a tiny 100 watt amp hidden behind the surround at the base of the center section. I just use the amp to power the single woofer, the 200 watts from my Kenwood handle 4 6x9 Pioneer speakers just fine.
How is the Audiophile better? Big amp? Tweeters? How many watts are the speakers? How many watts is the Base? Is it 8 inches? or bigger?
Thanks
Chris
Chris I do not have the audiophile system but can tell you the tweeters do come w/ it mounted behind the speaker grills in the top. I did not get this sytem simply because I bought my truck as it sat on the lot & it didn't have that sound system in it. The woofer that comes in that set up is an 8" woofer & I can't say for sure the watts it handles but isn't getting an over powering amount of power from the amp either. It is a very small amp that is mounted to the enclosure itself. I have heard it does a great job whatever the #'s are thou so I will see soon? Chris where did you get the mounting brackets for the 6x9's you have in your doors? I thought about doing the same for the rear doors but to go w/ the 6x9's I want I wouldn't be able to roll down my back windows / that I just found out has everything to make them go up & down except the crank. Thats too funny. BUT w/ the larger magnet on the 6x9's it would hit the glass.
Hope this helps some / I'm sure someone will give you all the specs soon
Hi Bozack
The speakers are not really 6x9, they are actually made to fit in the ford. They are a little undersized, and go right in. A few minutes with the wiring is all. They sound great, much better than the factory speakers.
Check out Crutchfeild.com for a great line of adaptors, though.
I truly thought the factory stereo/cd sounded good, until I replaced it with a Kenwood. The speakers sounded good, till I replaced them with the Pioneers. The differance is huge. Adding the amp and base just made my rock MP3's sound better.
At the Ford dealership last week I listened to a SuperCrew with the Audiophile system in it. I didn't think it sounded that good. Not arguing with those that like it. I think they are into a different kind of music that I am.
60-70-80 Rock sounds great on my system, but I dunno how most Rap or Hip Hop would sound. The only rap I have is Black 47 and it sounds good on mine.
As do Emerson string Quartet doing Beethoven. And Rose Maddox. Good enough for me.
But I am curious as to the speakers in the doors of the trucks with Audiophiles, are they the same as the reg speakers?
The audiophile uses different speakers, although they are the same size as the nonaudiophile system. The door speakers are 6x8. The audiophile also adds tweeters up front in the doors. Hope this helps some.
Speakers are 6x8, and some 5x7's have the elongated holes to fit the mounting hole pattern. The difference between the audiophile and regular system is the base speakers are the same 5x7/6x8's but an additonal tweeter mounted in the upper portion of the front door and the sub woofer enclosure with a seperate amp under the back seat are used in the audiophile system..
I have a 04 screw /w stock single cd I replaced the head unit with a 05 stock 6 cd mp3 player could i hook up a stock sub and tweeter's ??? is the wiring already there, but just hidden?? i took out the plug where the tweeter goes and looked around but didn't find any extra wires.
FERRAIOLOK good luck w/ the stock sub wiring / I had a deal of a lifetime on the sub enclosure complete but no harness in my Scab so I'll be building my own for under the seat. Just be careful buying after market enclosures online I've read a few of the enclosures have been blown apart because they were poorly made. The tweeters would be easy to wire / you won't need the stock wiring for them.
I would wire them (tweeters) to the speakers in the door you are putting them in, unless you are wanting to amplify them seperately....Just make sure you use bass blockers on them...

Reason: spelling
its cake running the wires for the tweeters more so when you have aftermarket speakers. The wire closed the the clip release on your spaker connector (female) and all you need to do is split the wires and use wire taps for the positive and negative wires. The grille as you may know is easily removed with a flat head screwdriver and the tweeter clip just as easy. to mount them you can go to any local audio shop and they should have mounting brackets that are strait with a couple of holes in the center. From there all you need is about 6 inches of 3m tape to mount them.
To mount them just remove the grille, then pop up the plastic by gently pulling up with a screw drvier where your power window swiches or where they would be and you have plenty of room to do run your wires and place the tweeter.
I am currently running Memphis Power Reference 5x7s in all four doors and 2 ten inch Rockford HE2 subs under my back seat with a 900w RF amp. IT SOUNDS SWEET and sets off alarms
Alil insight:: tweeters are tweeters you can buy the 20 dollar ones at your local wal-mart and they will sound just as clean as your JL audios provided that they are not amplified.
