Frankentruck
It takes a fair amount of attitude to be seen driving something with so much character.
A friend of mine is interested in buying it from me, but I don't know what it's worth. Neither does he. Does anyone have advice?
Here's a looong full description-
1986 Ford F350 4X4 Duallie Crew cab 8' bed 6.9L Diesel
Hypermax turbo with pyrometer and boost gauge.
Gear vendors overdrive and C6 automatic.
New glow plugs and glow plug controller, new injector pump done by Navistar dealer.
Pioneer detachable face AM-FM-CD.
Dual fuel tanks, 19 and 38 gal.
Built in radar detector.
AC converted to R134.
Six good tires plus spare.
Fiberglass cap.
x22,000 miles. I'm pretty sure x isn't 0, probably is 1, but might be 2.
I've had the truck since x14,000 miles about 6 years ago.
The previous owner installed a 1990 nose (hood, fenders, grille, bumper) and a 1995 factory 8' duallie bed with alloy rims and Arrow duallie conversion spacers.
Originally a Centurion conversion, which included wood interior door panels, wooden overhead console, stainless roof rack, and stainless grab handles and exterior lights on the B and C pillars. Also has a fiberglass cab visor and fiberglass fender flare running board units. All have been removed pending painting of the cab, which hasn't happened yet...
The interior is in ugly shape, though seat covers and carpet would do a lot. Comes with a new, never used cover for the rear bench seat.
The cruise control only works occasionally.
There's a loose ground on rear lights, but wiggle the wire bundle under the back bumper and they come back on.
There's a sloooow leak in left outside dual.
The rooftop airhorns are missing, and the factory underhood ones aren't reconnected.
The right side rear view mirror glass fell out. Left left one broke a couple of years ago and I had the glass replaced for less than twenty bucks.
It's been parked long enough that the left front brake caliper is sticky and drags.
The right exhaust manifold has a crack. It was cracked when I bought it, but had been patched with some ceramic putty, which worked well for several years until the rust under it flaked off. Seems to run alright without the patch too, without noticeably losing turbo boost pressure. I've got a pair of replacement manifolds, but I'd probably just put a dab of patch back on and not bother replacing the cracked one until I have to take it off for some other repair.
It is a Connecticut truck, but given that it now has the newer nose and bed, the only body rust problems were cab corners, which have metal patches welded on, and the doors. It comes with unrusted doors from Texas that haven't been bolted on yet.
Anyone still with me after all of that? Whaddya think?

Insurance company said it is worth $2900. Hope this helps you narrow it down.
